Philip Read has lived in Bexley most of his life having been born and brought up in Northumberland Heath ward. He was educated at Bedonwell Junior and Beths Grammar schools.  In 1968 he was the youngest ever Bexley councillor when he represented Belvedere. Councillor Read is married to Eva and has two daughters both of whom attended Erith School where he was a governor for 15 years.

 

Amongst many local issues, Councillor Read is particularly interested in crime, including anti-social behaviour, and environmental issues affecting Northumberland Heath ward residents.

 

Councillor Read has worked in the travel industry most of his life and is a lifelong supporter of Charlton Athletic.
